The Devils will have the second pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, after moving up with this year's Draft Lottery. Going into Tuesday, the Devils had the fifth-best odds (8.5% chance) to get the top pick. The last time New Jersey had the 2nd overall pick was in 1987 when the Devils picked Brendan Shanahan.
Last year, New Jersey picked Luke Hughes fourth-overall and Chase Stillman 29th overall in the first round of the NHL draft. The previous year, the Devils had three first-round picks: Alexander Holtz (7th), Dawson Mercer (18th), and Shakir Mukhamadullin (20th).
The 2022 NHL Draft is the 60th edition and will take place July 7 and 8 in Montreal. More coverage ahead of the Draft will be on NewJerseyDevils.com.
