BLOG: Remaining NHL Regular Season Games Cancelled

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced on Tuesday afternoon that the remaining NHL regular season games have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and the current NHL pause.

The league is hoping to return with a 24-team Return to Play plan, which would not include the New Jersey Devils based on their 68 points.

New Jersey played 69 games this season with a 28-29-12 record.

Kyle Palmieri finishes as the team's leader in points with 45, while Nikita Gusev trails him with 44 points for second on the Devils squad. Nico Hischier is third in points with 36. Palmieri also finished as the leading goal scorer with 25 points, followed by Jesper Bratt's 16 goals. Hischier rounds out the top three once again, with 14 goals.

Mackenzie Blackwood ended his first full NHL season as the leader in wins with 22 in 47 games played, a 2.77 goals against average, .915 save percentage and three shutouts.

The Red Wings, Senators, Sabres, Kings, Ducks and Sharks are the other six teams who will not be able to participate should the NHL return to play this summer.
