Bud Light Six Pack of Stats: NJD vs. PIT

by Staff Writer / New Jersey Devils

Here’s what you need to know for tonight’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins!

1. Scott Gomez will be honored before the game for reaching the 1,000 games mark on Saturday. Of those 1,000 games, 561 have been played with the Devils and 158 with the Rangers.

2. The Devils have recalled Stefan Matteau and Joe Whitney from Albany (AHL). Matteau, the Devils’ first-round pick in 2012, hopes to see his first NHL action since 2012-13, when he made 17 appearances and registered three points (1g-2a). He has nine points (1g-8a) in 26 games with the A-Devils this season.

Whitney is Albany’s leading scorer with 27 points (11g-16a) in 30 contests. He made his only NHL appearance last Jan. 24 in a Devils win over Washington.

3. Tonight’s game is the third of five meetings between the division rivals and the first of three contests to be played at Prudential Center.

4. Pittsburgh leads the season series 2-0-0 following an 1-0 win on Dec. 2 at CONSOL Energy Center.

5. The Devils have won four straight and are 13-3-0 vs. the Penguins at Prudential Center since 2008-09.

6. New Jersey was 2-for-3 on the PK against the Rangers on Saturday and is 29-for-32 (90.6%) over the past 10 games.
