Here's what you need to know for tonight's matchup in Los Angeles!

The Devils are opening a three-game California road trip tonight. Since 2010-11, New Jersey is 4-3-0 in games played in the Golden State, including 2-1-0 at Los Angeles.

2. This is the first of two meetings between the Devils and Kings this season, and the only to be played at Staples Center.

3. The Devils went 1-1-0 vs. Los Angeles last season, including a 2-1 overtime win in L.A. on Nov. 21. The Kings outscored New Jersey, 3-2, overall.

4. The Devils are without Jaromir Jagr and Tuomo Ruutu, neither of whom traveled to Los Angeles because of illness. Ruutu (flu) has been placed on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 9. Eric Gelinas, who’s recovering from the flu, has been activated off of IR, but will not play tonight.

5. Patrik Elias is one goal away from 400 for his career. He’s looking to become the 91st player in NHL history to reach the 400-goal plateau.

6. Tonight’s goaltender Cory Schneider started both games against the Kings last season and posted a 1-1-0 record with an 0.99 goals-against average and .964 save percentage.
