Brodeur unveils new mask

by Eric Marin / New Jersey Devils

Even in the dog days of summer, Martin Brodeur's new mask looks ready to win Best in Show.

The new artwork, unveiled Monday, features familiar elements from Brodeur's previous masks, but adds his English bulldogs, Stanley and Vez.

Stanley wears a Stanley Cup-shaped dog tag that includes a "3" for Brodeur's championships with the Devils in 1995, 2000 and 2003. Vez's tag – the Vezina Trophy – commemorates Brodeur earning the top goalie award in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008.

The backplate, in addition to the initials of Brodeur's children, also includes a film tribute to his father Denis' legendary career as a hockey photographer.
