A 31-save shutout from Martin Brodeur
put the Devils within a victory of eliminating Tampa Bay.
Tonight, the final installment of FOX Sports Net New York's "15 to Remember" (FSN NY, 8 p.m.) takes fans back to April 20, when Brodeur's perfect performance propelled the Devils to a 3-0 win in game five of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals – and put the Lightning on the brink of a first-round playoff exit.
Brodeur's 92nd postseason win came on his 22nd career playoff shutout, one short of Patrick Roy's NHL record.
"He's the best that ever played the game," Patrik Elias
said afterward. "He made some unbelievable saves early and I said: 'This is it, he's on top. He's back tonight and we're going to get it done.'"
Despite being outshot 31-14, the Devils got goals from Andy Greene
and Brian Gionta for the win. New Jersey took a three games to two lead in the series, and went on to end it with a 3-2 victory in game six.
