The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

"It was always a priority to keep Jesper Bratt here long term and both parties are thrilled that a deal was completed," said Fitzgerald. "I value and commend the commitment Jesper made to this organization. We believe that he is a special player and a key member of our core group of talent who will contribute towards the team's long-term success, and organizational goal of bringing the Stanley Cup back to New Jersey."

Bratt, 24, completed his sixth season with New Jersey, after the forward began his NHL career with the Devils in 2017-18. The 5-foot-10, 175lbs. winger recorded consecutive 73-point seasons after Bratt earned 32 goals and 41 assists in 2022-23. Bratt's 32 tallies, eight power-play goals, and +14 plus/minus rating last season also marked new career highs. His overall goal total and power play goals both ranked second on New Jersey last season, while his 73 points ranked fourth.

The left-handed shot set a franchise record for the longest point streak from the start of a season in 2022-23, after his stretch of 11 straight games with at least a point, from Oct. 13 to Nov. 3 (5g-11a=16 PTS). Bratt scored his 100th career NHL goal on Mar. 19, 2023, at Tampa, a goal which was part of Bratt's first career hat-trick.

Bratt is one of 10 players in franchise history who recorded 70, or more, points in multiple seasons. He is also the first Devils player since Zach Parise (2008-09 to 2009-10) who earned 70, or more, points in consecutive seasons.

In 2022-23 he played in his second post-season with the Devils and recorded his first-career playoff point and goal. He finished the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs with six points (1g-5a).

In 389 career regular-season contests, Bratt has totaled 276 career points (102g-174a), which are also the most points earned by a player drafted after the second round from the 2016 NHL Draft.

Born on July 30, 1998, he was selected by New Jersey in the sixth round, 162nd overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft. He was signed by the team on May 12, 2017, and made his NHL debut on October 7, 2017, versus Colorado where he recorded both his first career goal and assist. Bratt signed a one-year deal worth $5,450,000 on Aug. 3, 2022 and was due to once again be a restricted free agent on July 1, 2023.

Prior to the NHL, the winger spent two seasons, 2015-17, playing for AIK (Allsvenskan) in Sweden. In 95 career games, he tallied 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points. He represented Sweden at the 2016 U18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the IIHF's 2019 World Championship.
