A look at the past week for Devils prospects…
Reid Boucher notched his third goal of the season in Albany's 3-2 shootout loss to Rochester on Sunday. Boucher, who posted a goal and two assists in his season debut on March 30, has five points (3g-2a) in five games this season.
Jon Merrill scored his first professional goal against Providence on Friday, giving him points in his first four professional games (1g-5a). He's averaging a point per game over six contests with the Devils' top affiliate.
Albany announced Friday they have signed defenseman Seth Helgeson to an amateur tryout agreeement. Read more at thealbanydevils.com.
Maxime Clermont and Elmira are tied, 1-1, in their opening series versus Florida. Clermont allowed five goals on 28 shots in Friday's Game 1 before the Jackals posted an 8-2 win in Game 2 on Saturday. Game 3 is Wednesday in Elmira.
Artur Gavrus and the Owen Sound Attack are even at a game apiece in their second-round matchup with Plymouth after beating the Whalers, 3-1, on Sunday. The series continues Tuesday in Owen Sound.
Gavrus posted two goals and three assists, including the eventual series-clinching tally, for the Attack in their six-game triumph over Sault Ste. Marie in the opening round.
Stefan Matteau's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (QMJHL) are two wins away from advancing to the third round of the QMJHL playoffs. Matteau notched the go-ahead goal in the Armada's 5-4 win over Val-d'Or on Saturday, securing a 2-0 series lead in the best-of-seven set, which continues Tuesday.
Matteau has two goals and four assists in seven games this postseason.
Damon Severson and Kelowna (WHL) fell into a 2-0 series hole with their 5-1 loss to Kamloops on Sunday, but the Rockets have already shown they can overcome postseason adversity. They erased a 3-0 series deficit in the first round before coming back to defeat Seattle in seven games. They won Game 6 and 7 in overtime, becoming only the second team in WHL history ever to win a best-of-seven after dropping the first three games.
Severson has one goal, eight assists in nine playoff games.
