The New Jersey Devils are in the midst of a transformative offseason. They won the NHL Draft Lottery and used the first-overall selection on potential franchise-changing player Jack Hughes. They traded for Norris Trophy-winning defenseman P.K. Subban. The team even added proven scorer and veteran presence Wayne Simmonds in free agency.
On Monday, the club added another possible impact player in Nikita Gusev. A dynamic, offensive force in the KHL, Gusev brings with him a lot of talent and potential to the Devils.
"Nikita is a winger who adds another offensive dimension to our hockey club with his outstanding instincts, vision and skill level," said General Manager Ray Shero.
The Devils acquired Gusev from Vegas, in exchange for a third-round pick in 2020 and a second-round pick in 2021. The two sides have agreed to terms on a two-year deal with an AAV of $4.5 million.
