Marco Rossi is going to hear his name selected high in the upcoming 2020 NHL Draft. The Austrian center is NHL Central Scouting's sixth-ranked North American skater and has plenty of traits in his game that could make him an impact player in the League for a long time.
He has spent the past two seasons skating for the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League, compiling 185 points in 109 games over those two campaigns.
With the Devils selecting seventh overall with their first pick in the draft, Rossi is certainly in consideration. If the Devils were to make Rossi the pick there, it would reunite him with a player who gave him advice about going to North America.
"I played against Nico when I was 12 or 13 I just got his number," said Rossi on a Zoom call with the media on Thursday. "Then when I got drafted by Ottawa, I knew I would be under the coach [Nico had in Halifax]. So I just texted him about the coach and stuff like that. And he texted me really good about the coach so I could just learn about him."
Andre Tourigny coached Hischier in Halifax of the QMJHL in 2016-17 ahead of his draft before joining Ottawa where he went on to coach Rossi.
