On Monday, July 6, 2020, the National Hockey League and NHL Players Association announced a Memorandum of Understanding on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The current CBA was set to expire after the 2020-21 NHL season and while the league and PA were negotiating the 'Return to Play' format amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the CBA became a part of these discussions where the two sides have worked out a new CBA that will run through the 2025-26 NHL season.

The Players Union will hold a full membership vote within 72-hours and the deal will be ratified by both the PA and the NHL's Board of Governors. Every NHL player would receive a vote with the majority ruling.

The NHLPA will be voting on both the CBA and the Return to Play agreement as one package, meaning one cannot be rejected while the other is accepted. The vote will be all-encompassing, regardless of whether a player is participating in the Return to Play this summer or not.

Stay tuned over the coming days for further coverage of the new CBA and what it means for the league and the Devils.
