It appears as though the NHL will return to at least the next two Olympic Winter Games. Those games, set to be held in 2022 and 2026 will feature NHL players, pending an agreement be worked out with the International Olympic Committee.

It's something the players have long pushed for, the last time NHL players appeared in the games was in 2014.

General Manager Tom Fitzgerald is happy for those players who will be on their national teams and recognizing the importance of this international stage.

"Well, there's no bigger stage in the sporting world than the Olympics," he said, "And if your game can be represented there, it's a win for our league. That's how I look at it. I think secondly, this is what the players want. They want to do this. They're passionate about it and I'm sure it's an incredible experience."
