Devils 2019 first-overall pick Jack Hughes has had a whirlwind couple of days and found himself touring his soon-to-be home for most of the day today. He appeared on the Devils official podcast, made the media rounds, and, finally, wound up at Yankees Stadium to take in their game against Toronto.

It all started with a flight from Vancouver to New Jersey on a private jet, along with his family and members of the management group.

"It was pretty National League, if you'd ask me," said Hughes. "It was awesome. They've been awesome so far. I'm so lucky and blessed to be able to play for such a great organization. I'm so excited to play for Devils fans for a lot of years."

Hughes said he wasn't very familiar with the area, but after being shown around a bit he's sold on all it has to offer.

"Looking at it now and being around the area, it's so awesome," he said. "I didn't know there's a city in [that area of New Jersey]. Jersey City and Hoboken are awesome. I get to go to the rink tomorrow and it's so close to Manhattan. I'm so excited to be a part of New Jersey and live in this state for a lot of years."

The NHL Tonight crew asked him about his impressions of the team and it sounds like Hughes has a lot of faith the Devils are headed in the right direction.

"I know it's a really good group with a lot of good players," he said. "I think it's a team that made the playoffs two years ago. They, obviously, had a lot of injuries this year. They're a team that's kind of right on the brink and can jump back in the playoffs, especially with the last couple of acquisitions they've made."

Hughes is one of those recent acquisitions and will try his best to make an impact year one. But first comes his introductory press conference on Tuesday and then he says his training will continue beginning Wednesday.
