3/26 Recap: Devils fall to Stars in OT

The Devils lost, 2-1, in overtime to the Dallas Stars on two late power play goals on Sunday at Prudential Center. Blake Colman scored the lone goal for the Devils, his first in the NHL. Here's what we learned:

1) Penalties played a major a factor tonight. Dallas had four power plays opportunities, accumulated eight shots and lit the lamp twice. The Devil went sixty-plus minutes without a man-advantage opportunity.

2) Blake Pietila's strong performances continued on Sunday, where the rookie generated a great breakaway chance while serving time on the penalty kill. He played 15:27 minutes, with 3:05 on the PK - where he has exceled. Head coach John Hynes explained that Pietila has earned the opportunity to play those minutes and hopes his confidence on the offensive side of the ice will follow.

3) Hynes also said after the game, "Keith Kinkaid played great tonight (30 saves) and we didn't push hard enough to get that second goal. We have to do a way better job supporting our goaltenders by playing better offensively." Travis Zajac agreed saying the loss was on the offense and their inability to finish on their chances.

The Devils will look to bounce back when the club hosts the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.
