2/12 Pregame Notes: Devils vs. Sharks

Tonight is the second of two meetings between the Devils and Sharks in 2016-17. New Jersey fell, 4-0, to San Jose in their first match-up, Nov. 21, at SAP Center. Keith Kinkaid stopped 37 of 41 shots in the loss. It was the first of three times the club has been shut out by an opponent this season. 

The Devils are 1-2-0 in matinee games this season and are 0-1-0 at Prudential Center. New Jersey is 5-4-3 against the Pacific Division and is 9-8-5 against Western Conference teams. The Devils have not defeated San Jose at Prudential Center since Feb. 11, 2011 (0-2-2) and are 2-4-2 overall vs. the Sharks since the 2010-11 season.

Taylor Hall has four points (3g-1a) in his last four games against San Jose. Travis Zajac has three goals (3pts) over his last three games vs. the Sharks.


Goaltending Coach Chris Terreri played parts of two seasons with the Sharks from 1995-97…Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer served the Devils in the same capacity from Jul. 19, 2011-Dec. 26, 2014…San Jose's Director of Player Development Larry Robinson served as Head Coach and led the Devils to the 2000 Stanley Cup Championship; he also served as an Assistant Coach for the team's 1995 Cup & as a Special Assignment Coach on the 2003 Cup-winning squad…Sharks' Assistant/Goaltending coach Johan Hedberg played for the Devils for three seasons from 2010-2013 & served as Albany's (AHL) goaltending coach in 2014-15…San Jose defenseman Paul Martin was New Jersey's fifth choice (second round), 62nd overall, in the 2000 Entry Draft and played six seasons with the Devils from 2003-10…Sharks' D David Schlemko played 67 games with the Devils in the 2015-16 season…Devils' Assistant Coach Ryane Clowe spent nine-plus seasons with the San Jose organization from 2003-2013, scoring 101g-170a-271pts.
