The Devils rallied from a 4-1 deficit to defeat the Predators, 5-4, in overtime at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with goals by Taylor Hall, Michael Cammalleri (2), Andy Greene and Adam Henrique. Here's what we learned.
1) Sometimes it's more about quality than quantity. The Devils struggled to maintain possession or mount any sort of sustained offensive attack throughout the game. They had only 22 shots on goal, including just four in the third period and one in 4:42 of overtime, but they made four of those final five shots count at the end where it matters most.
2) Keith Kinkaid faced 42 shots, plus 18 that were blocked and 17 that missed the net. He was under siege for the better part of this game, especially the first four minutes of overtime, but was able to give his team a chance by making big saves late in the game as his teammates scored twice in the first minute of the third period and later tied it up to force the extra session.
3) Pavel Zacha suffered a facial laceration in the first period and did not play the rest of the game. His status for Tuesday's game against Vancouver is unknown.
The Devils (11-7-6) will travel back to New Jersey and will practice on Monday before hosting the Canucks at Prudential Center on Tuesday.
