The Devils ended their seven-game losing streak in convincing fashion with a 4-0 shutout of the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night at Prudential Center, with goals by PA Parenteau (PPG), Miles Wood, Adam Henrique and Kyle Palmieri (PPG). Here's what we learned:

1) The Devils held one of the most offensive teams in the league to only 16 shots, including just three in the third period, to help Cory Schneider earn his first shutout of the season.

2) These teams don't like each other, as evidenced by the 82 penalty minutes assessed in this game, including 46 in the first period, 13 minors and four fighting majors. Mark it on your calendar. These teams face each other again January 21 in Philadelphia and three more times after that!

3) All four goals tonight were scored below the hash marks. It's something head coach John Hynes has been asking his team to do more of in an effort to sustain the offensive attack, get second and third opportunities, and be rewarded for their efforts...like they were tonight.

The Devils are back in action Friday night in Pittsburgh before the three-day Christmas break.
