The Devils defeated the Capitals, 4-3 OT, for the first time in five meetings. Before Thursday, they were 0-5-0, since their 2-1 shootout victory on Dec. 29, 2016 at Capital One Arena. The club ended their seven-game, win-less streak against Washington at Prudential Center (last win; April 4, 2017, 0-5-2 in seven previous games).

The Devils are now 7W-8L in the overtime frame this season and are 4W-2L at Prudential Center.
The club out-shot Washington, 32-19, for the fifth straight game, Jan. 4-18, which is a team-season high. They also eliminated all five of Washington's power plays. The Devils were scoreless in three power play opportunities.
New Jersey was 58% overall in the face-off circle.
Taylor Hall scored the game-winner in overtime. It was his eighth career overtime goal. He also had one assist for two points (1G-1A). He has a team season-high, six-game, scoring streak (5G-6A-11PTS).
Drew Stafford scored his seventh goal of the season to give New Jersey a 1-0 lead. It was his second goal in the past three games, Jan. 13-18. Before Jan. 13 vs. Philadelphia, Stafford was a healthy-scratch for seven-consecutive games from Dec. 23-Jan. 7.
Stafford needs just one goal to match his 2016-17 total where he scored four as a Winnipeg Jet and four as a Boston Bruin.
Marcus Johansson had the lone assist on Stafford's first period goal. The former Washington Capital has two assists (2PTS) over his last two games, Jan. 16-18, and has three assists against the Caps in three games this season.
Defenseman Sami Vatanen skated in his 300th career NHL game and recorded his 100th career assist on Miles Wood's goal. He then added another assist, 101st career, on Taylor Hall's OT game winner He has played in 20 games with New Jersey and leads the club in average ice-time with 21:53 per game. Vatanen had two PIM tonight.
Devils' captain Andy Greene scored the club's second goal, his third of the season, to put New Jersey ahead 2-1. He was his first goal in 26 games, since Nov. 12 at CHI.
Miles Wood, the game's third star, scored the Devils third goal on a breakaway. Nico Hischier recorded two assists for his seventh multi-point game of the season. He has three points (3A) over the past three games, Jan.13-18.
Devils' goaltender Keith Kinkaid started in his second consecutive game and stopped 16 of 19 for the victory.

Tonight is the second of four meetings between the Devils and Flyers and the first to be played at Wells Fargo Center. New Jersey trails the season-series 0-1-0. They lost the first match-up of the season-series, 3-5 L, Jan. 13 at Prudential Center. They will face-off twice more Feb. 1 at Prudential Center before playing the fourth and final regular-season game, Feb. 13 at Wells Fargo Center. The Devils are 6-2-0 at Wells Fargo Center since the 2013-14 season.
Taylor Hall has a team season-high six-game, scoring-streak from Jan. 2-18 (5G-6A-11PTS). One point, this afternoon, would tie his career-high when he had a seven-game, points-streak from Jan. 16-Feb. 4, 2016 (2G-7A-9PTS) as an Edmonton Oiler.
Hall had two assists (2PTS) vs. Philadelphia in their first meeting on Jan. 13. Drew Stafford, Kyle Palmieri and Jesper Bratt scored the Devils' three goals in the defeat.
The Devils, 56PTS, are currently second in the Metropolitan Division and lead the sixth-place Flyers by six points (50PTS). Twelve points separate the division-leading Washington Capitals, 60PTS, from the eighth/last place Carolina Hurricanes (48PTS).
