Team Notes

• New Jersey fell to 3-6-3 vs. Western Conference opponents, to 3-4-4 at home and to 11-13-5 overall.

• The Devils are now 1-4 in the shootout this season.

• Tonight’s contest closed-out the club’s seventh of 18 sets of back-to-back games. New Jersey is now 3-2-2 in first games and 2-3-2 in second games when playing on consecutive dates.

• New Jersey is 8-1-2 at home vs. Chicago since 1999-00.

• The Devils were 3/3 on the penalty-kill tonight and are 44/48 (91.7%) over the past 14 games

Player Notes

Keith Kinkaid (37 saves + 0/2 SO) became the first goaltender to make his first NHL start as a Devil since Scott Clemmensen (January 20, 2004 at Pittsburgh, W, 25 shots against/25 saves) and the first to do so at home since Martin Brodeur (March 26, 1992 vs. Boston, W, 26 shots against/24 saves). • Kinkaid’s 39 shots against were the second-most a goaltender making his first NHL as a Devil has faced (Chris Terreri, October 21, 1986 at New York Islanders, L, 46 shots against/40 saves). Elias Sports Bureau

Stephen Gionta scored his second goal of the season/in the last four games. Gionta was +2 tonight and leads the Devils with a +7 mark on the season.

Jordin Tootoo netted his second goal of the season/first since November 7 at Detroit.

Steve Bernier recorded the primary assist on both goals for his second multiple-point effort in the last four games (1g-1a-2pts December 4 at Toronto). He now needs just one point to reach the 200-pt. mark in his NHL career (90g-109a-199pts).

Damon Severson posted an assist on Gionta’s tally, his first point since November 28 vs. Detroit (five games).

Scott Gomez was 13/20 (65%) on face-offs tonight.

Dainius Zubrus (leg lacerations) did not play and saw his consecutive games-played streak snapped at 123 (April 1, 2013-December 8, 2014).

Reid Boucher, who was recalled from Albany (AHL) earlier in the day, appeared in his fourth NHL game of the season & first since November 1 vs. Columbus.
