The Devils are in Tampa to take on the Lightning tonight at Amalie Arena and are searching for their first road win of the season after an overtime loss against Florida on Thursday. Here's what you need to know:
1) This will be the third time in nine games these teams will meet and it will conclude their three-game regular season series. Each team has won at home. The Lightning have lost four of their last five games including a 10-round shootout against the Bruins on Thursday and are currently 6-4-1.
2) Damon Severson leads the Devils in scoring with 8 points (1 goal, 7 assists) through the first nine games of the season and has six points in his last four games. He is ranked ninth (tied with four others) in the NHL in points and tied for third in the league with five power play assists.
3) Special teams will play a significant role tonight. The Lightning have effectively converted an average of one in every four power play opportunities. The Devils allowed two power play goals on Thursday and it ended up costing them the game. So far this season, they've been able to bounce back and quickly rectify any weaknesses from the previous game, so look for the Devils to have better discipline and not allow those man-advantage opportunities.
