Team Notes

• New Jersey opened a three-game road trip, fell to 6-8-1 away from Prudential Center and to 9-11-4 overall.

• The Devils are now 3-3-1 within the Metropolitan Division.

• Tonight’s contest closed-out the club’s sixth of 18 sets of back-to-back games. New Jersey is now 2-2-2 in first games and 2-3-1 in second games when playing on consecutive dates.

• The Devils were 4/4 on the penalty kill and are 33/35 (94.3%) over the past nine games.

• New Jersey outshot New York, 35-28, including a 16-2 margin in the third period. The Devils posted 30+ shots on goal for the third time this season (also, October 18 & October 21) and outshot their opponent for the first time since November 10 at Boston.

Player Notes

Cory Schneider (25 saves + ENG) made his NHL-leading 23rd start and fell to 9-10-3 on the season.

Damien Brunner, who was a healthy scratch the previous four games, scored his second goal of the season. He has points in each of his last two appearances (1g-1a-2pts).

Adam Larsson was credited with the primary assist on Brunner's goal and now has 2a in the last four games. Larsson led the club (tie, Damon Severson) with a career-high five shots on goal (previously, 4, April 25, 2013 vs. Pittsburgh).

Michael Ryder also picked up an assist on Brunner's tally and is now has 4g-8a-12pts this season, which ties with Marek Zidlicky (3g-9a-12pts) for fourth on the team in points.

Adam Henrique (upper body) and Travis Zajac (lower body) missed tonight's game due to injuries suffered on Friday vs. Detroit.

Ryane Clowe (hit to head, 11 games missed), Jon Merrill (arm, 13 games missed) and Bryce Salvador (lower body, nine games missed) also remain sidelined.
