Schneider has faced a penalty shot in each of the Devils’ last two games vs. the Sharks at Prudential Center. He stopped Tommy Wingels’ attempt in last season’s home opener on Oct. 18 at The Rock.
Adam Henrique scored a power play goal at 16:22 of the third period to tie the game at 1-1 and force overtime. It was Henrique’s second goal of the season & first on the power play. He also scored the Devils’ only goal in the shootout; it was just the second shootout goal of his career (2/13, 15.4%).
Henrique led New Jersey with a season-high seven shots on goal and led all forwards with 23:49 of TOI.
Damon Severson and Jordin Tootoo assisted on Henrique's goal, their first points of the season. It was Severson’s first assist since March 23 vs. Los Angeles (11 games) and Tootoo’s first since March 14 vs. Arizona (16 games).
Andy Greene led the Devils with 25:09 of TOI overall.
Travis Zajac missed the game due to a lower body injury.
John Moore returned to the lineup after missing Tuesday’s game with a right arm injury.
Eric Gelinas and Stefan Matteau were the healthy scratches.
