PROSPECT: Laurent Dauphin
DRAFTED: 2013 (39th overall)
CURRENT TEAM: Chicoutimi Sagueneens (QMJHL)

SULLY SAYS:

"Laurent Dauphin is a really smart hockey player, but he also has a knack for the defensive side. He scores goals but sees the ice and is a good playmaker. He makes his teammates better, which is a huge attribute."

"He plays in all situations on his junior team; he kills penalties, he's good at face-offs and is on the ice in the last minute whether they need a goal or are defending a goal, which shows that his coach believes in his ability as a player."

"Like (prospect) Christian Dvorak, he takes care of his own end then moves in, but he does have a knack to score goals and sees the ice. He isn’t as offensively skilled as Dvorak, but there are some similarities in their games. They are both aware on the defensive side of the game and both put up numbers."

"I like him a lot, I am a fan. I enjoy his hockey game. He is definitely a player we are keeping an eye on because we signed him and we like his progress so far."

"You always hope (prospects) can step out of Junior and make your NHL team as a 20-year-old, but that's very hard to do. I believe he is no different than Henrik Samuelsson and maybe a few other (prospects) who need to learn that extra half a step, learn the pro game. I don’t think it would hurt him to start in the AHL (next season) and get some seasoning there, but I see him as a NHL hockey player some day."
