Coyotes forward Scottie Upshall has been suspended for one game at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Switzerland. Upshall is playing for Canada, along with fellow Coyotes Shane Doan and Matthew Lombardi.
While playing Hungary on Sunday, Upshall checked Andras Benk early in the second period and was assessed a match penalty for a hit to the head. According to Canadian-based TSN, Benk suffered a broken collar bone as a result of Upshall's hit. Upshall received a five-minute major penalty and was ejected from the game, which Canada won 9-0.
The match penalty carries an automatic one-game suspension. Canada next plays on Tuesday vs. Slovakia.
