In his first year as General Manager with the Phoenix Coyotes, Don Maloney has pushed all the right buttons on every move he has made. With the trade deadline less than a week away, we know one thing is for certain, Maloney will not give up assets that are a part of the bright future in Phoenix.

By acquiring Radim Vrbata and Ilya Bryzgalov for very little, every General Manager has to know that Maloney is one of the sharpest hockey executives in the business. The quick turnaround in Phoenix from pretender to contender is no accident, so the question now is whether the man who used to wear #12 for the New York Rangers can add another piece to the Coyotes puzzle without giving up anything in the organization’s pipeline. Host Matt Rosen tracked down Don Maloney at the Alltel Ice Den in Scottsdale to get a full report on the annual GM Meetings in Florida, and to see if just maybe, he might pull another rabbit out of his hat.
