The Boedker Blog: Saturday Was Good Day for Players, Fans

by Mikkel Boedker / Arizona Coyotes

GLENDALE -- We're almost 10 games into the season and so far, so good.

Beating the Red Wings on Saturday was huge for us, and from what I’ve heard it was a great way to cap the day for our fans. I’ve been told the tailgating outside our arena went well and got everybody in a good mood before the game. I think that’s a fun idea by our new owners. It was a really positive night – not just for us, but for our fans too.

We were a little bit tired in the first period against Detroit because we got home late from playing at Anaheim the night before. But that’s no excuse, and we’ve got to change that going forward and get going faster in our games.

It was fun to see Mike Smith score a goal at the end of the game. He’s tried a couple of times before and missed the net, but we all know he has the shot to go for it and he did, and this time it was just meant to be. It was pretty cool to be a part of it. It’s like seeing a rare car drive down the street. More importantly, it was a great way to finish off a good team effort and a good team win.

We all had the day off on Sunday and I had some fun golfing with my agents. It was good to see them. I shot a 96, I think, which is about normal for me. As always, I hit some good shots and I hit a lot of bad ones, but it was a beautiful sunny day and we had a good time, and it was a relaxing start to the busy week that’s coming up this week.

We have three games this week and all three are against Pacific Division teams. We’ll need to play well in all three, and by that I mean we need to keep forecheking hard and controlling the puck and staying within our game.

On Saturday we’re playing a day game against Edmonton. I think it'll be fun. Playing so early in the day tends to throw off everybody’s routine a little, but it’s nice to change things up sometimes. I’m really looking forward to it.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.
