TUCSON – The Tucson Roadrunners, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes, announced today the club has signed forwards Hunter Fejes and Mark Cooper plus goaltender Austin Lotz to AHL two-way contracts.
Fejes, 22, was originally a sixth round draft choice (#178 overall) by Arizona in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-1, 192-pound left wing spent four years at Colorado College before turning pro after a senior season in which he set personal bests in goals (13) and points (22) last year. He then appeared in 10 games with the AHL Springfield Falcons registering no points and two minutes in penalties.
The 24-year-old Cooper also just turned pro after completing four years with Bowling Green State University last season. In 157 games played at the NCAA level, the Scarborough, ON native scored 45 goals and 46 assists for 91 points and a +20 rating. The 6-2, 190-pound right wing then signed with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves after the season ended, appearing in two games with no points or penalty minutes.
Lotz hails from Winnipeg, MB and just completed his junior hockey career in the Western Hockey League. The 21-year-old spent four seasons with the Everett Silvertips and part of another with the Medicine Hat Tigers. He appeared in 170 games with a 75-63-17 record, 2.96 GAA, .902 save percentage and 11 shutouts. The St. Adolphe, MB native was a part of the gold medal-winning Team Canada squad at the 2012-13 U-18 world junior championships.
The Roadrunners will begin their inaugural AHL campaign on October 14 at San Diego, and play their home opener at the Tucson Convention Center against Stockton on October 28. Tickets are now on sale by calling (520) 471-6627. Full-season plans start as low as $10 per seat for 35-game plans.
