NHL Offensive Player of the Week

NEW YORK/TORONTO -- Phoenix Coyotes center Steven Reinprecht, who led the NHL with seven points (five goals, two assists) and tallied two game-winning goals in three victories, has been named the NHL's Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 2.  Montreal goaltender Cristobal Huet, who led the Canadiens to three victories with a 0.65 goals-against average, .979 save percentage and two shutouts, is the League's Defensive Player of the Week.

New York Rangers right wing Jaromir Jagr (1-6--7 in three games), Anaheim Mighty Ducks right wing Teemu Selanne (3-3--6 in four games) and New Jersey Devils right wing Brian Gionta (3-3--6 in four games) were runners-up for offensive honors, while goaltenders Martin Brodeur of the Devils (4-0-0, 1.46 GAA), Miikka Kiprusoff of the Calgary Flames (3-0-0, 1.67 GAA) and Manny Legace of the Detroit Red Wings (3-0-0, 1.68 GAA) were runners-up for the defensive award.

Reinprecht recorded two assists in a 5-3 victory over the Nashville Predators on March 28, scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-2 win at San Jose March 30 and notched his third career NHL hat trick, including the overtime winner, in a 4-3 win over the Sharks April 1.

Reinprecht raised his season total to 21 goals, a career high, and 28 assists for 49 points.  The 29-year-old Edmonton native has 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) in 20 games with Phoenix since arriving from Calgary in a trade Feb. 2.  The Coyotes (36-34-4, 76 points), 11th in the Western Conference, visit Edmonton and Calgary this week before hosting Dallas Saturday.
