The 6th hole at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California provided the setting for a little magic on Saturday afternoon. Jeff Quinney stepped up to the challenging par 3 that is known for its two-tiered green with a bunker in the middle and did what very few golfers have ever done. A 7-iron and the Coyotes logo on his golf shirt were all the former ASU standout needed as he flew his tee shot behind the hole and used the slope of the green to bring it back and send it to the bottom of the cup!
While the Phoenix Coyotes will have Sunday afternoon off, the Coyotes logo will be all over CBS’ final round coverage of the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles. Jeff Quinney will be in the final group with Phil Mickelson, and it does not get any better than that! After shooting a third round 67, Quinney trails Mickelson by one stroke at 10 under par.
Mickelson did not have his “A” game today as he struggled with his ball striking to a round of 70. If Mickelson returns to the form he displayed on Friday when he tore up the course with a 64, Quinney will need to play a near perfect round to claim the victory.
