GLENDALE -- Brandon Gormley and Mark Visentin, the two players the Coyotes selected in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, are attending Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team development camp.

The camp, which began today and runs until Saturday in St. John’s, Newfoundland, helps Hockey Canada formulate its roster for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will be staged in Buffalo from Dec. 26, 2010 – Jan. 5, 2011.

Brandon Gormley
Gormley, a defenseman the Coyotes took with the 13th overall pick, recorded 9-34-43 and 54 penalty minutes (PIM) in 58 games with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) last season. He finished with a +31 rating, which ranked 3rd on his team. Gormley also registered 2-15-17 in 21 playoff games, which ranked 3rd among QMJHL defensemen in the playoffs, to help lead Moncton to the 2010 QMJHL Championship. In three Memorial Cup games, Gormley led his team in scoring with 1-2-3. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Gormley was named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team and awarded the Michael Bossy Trophy as the Top Professional Prospect.

Mark Visentin
Visentin, a goalie the Coyotes took with the 27th overall pick, appeared in 55 games for the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) last season, posting a record of 24-26-0-5 with a 2.99 goals against average (GAA) and a .911 save percentage (SV%). He ranked 5th in the OHL in saves (1637), T-10th in SV% and 11th in GAA. He also appeared in all five of Niagara’s playoff contests this season and was a member of Team Orr at the 2010 Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Top Prospects Game.

Meanwhile, defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson, whom the Coyotes selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and forward Chris Brown, whom the Coyotes selected with the 36th overall pick of the 2009 draft, are attending similar camps for Team Sweden and Team USA, respectively.
