The Arizona Coyotes look to establish a three-game point streak when they faceoff with the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Saturday (Nov. 20). The game will serve as the organization's Hockey Fights Cancer night in conjunction with the NHL's Hockey Fights Cancer Month this November. Puck drop at Gila River Arena is set for 6 p.m.
PACK FACTS
Saturday is the first time the Coyotes have played the Red Wings since Dec. 22, 2019 (5-2 W) and the first time hosting Detroit since March 2, 2019 (3-2 W). The last matchup at Gila River Arena resulted in Arizona extending its winning streak to six games.
Clayton Keller registered a three-point game (2-1-3) the last time the Coyotes faced Detroit. The winger has totaled seven points (5-2-7) in five career games against the Red Wings and has three multi-point games against them - the most multi-point games he's recorded against an Eastern Conference team.
Keller on Thursday recorded his 200th career point (71-129-200) with an assist on Jakob Chychrun's game-tying goal. Reaching the milestone in his 310th career games, Keller required the 11th-fewest games in franchise history to achieve the milestone. The last Coyotes/Jets player to register 200 points in fewer than 310 games was Keith Tkachuk, who got to 200 career points in his 238th career game on Oct. 25, 1995.
With a goal and an assist on Thursday, Chychrun (48 career goals) took over sole possession of ninth place in the franchise's career goals scored by defensemen. It was also his first multi-point game of the season and 18th of his career.
Scott Wedgewood on Thursday earned the first 40-plus save performance by a Coyote netminder this season. His 42-save performance tied his single-game career-best, which he notched during his first stint with the Coyotes (Dec. 3, 2017 at VGK). Wedgewood now holds a .932 SV% and a 2.29 GAA in 2021-22 with Arizona.
Despite not finding the scoresheet on Thursday for the first time in two games, Shayne Gostisbehere remains ranked among the NHL's top 10 in assists (11) by defensemen (T-5th).
The Coyotes' franchise is 50-64-22-8 all-time against the Red Wings but have won the last two head-to-head games.
A LOOK AT THE RED WINGS
Detroit (8-9-2, 18 pts) is finishing up a four-game road trip that's seen them go 0-3-0 on it. The Wings' offensive production is highlighted by a pair of rookies in Lucas Raymond (7-11-18) and Moritz Seider (2-11-13) who enter Saturday No. 1 and No. 2 in the rookie scoring race, respectively. Raymond's 18 points lead all Detroit skaters while Seider's 11 assists cracks the NHL's top 10 in that category among blueliners. Detroit has not lost four straight games in regulation this season.
