• Arizona, which will enter the game with a 1-0-1 record after the first two games of a three-game homestand, is 5-1-1 in the first game of back-to-back games this season. The Coyotes will play at San Jose on Saturday night.
• Antti Raanta will start in goal. Raanta, who last played on Saturday when he made 24 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss to the New York Rangers, is 2-1-1 in his past four starts. He stopped 107 of 115 shots in those games, a .930 save percentage.
• Niklas Hjalmarsson, who hasn't played since Arizona last competed vs. Edmonton on Nov. 28, will return to the lineup after missing 16 games because of an upper-body injury.
• Oliver Ekman-Larsson will take the ice for the first time since being named to the NHL All-Star Game for the second time in his career. Ekman-Larsson has fared well vs. Edmonton with 10 goals and 14 assists in 29 games vs. the Oilers.
