PENGUINS UP NEXT FOR COYOTES

by Staff Writer / Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes practiced Sunday morning in preparation for their next game on Thursday vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins. Tickets for the game at Jobing.com Arena still are available.

Head Coach Wayne Gretzky was not at Sunday’s practice at the Alltel Ice Den in Scottsdale so it is unclear which players will be in the lineup against Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and the rest of the Penguins. The Coyotes do not practice again until Tuesday.

The consensus in the Coyotes’ locker room after Sunday’s practice was that coming out flat against Pittsburgh, like Phoenix did in a 4-1 loss to Calgary on Saturday night, just won’t cut it against the defending Eastern Conference champions.

“That won’t cut it against any team in the NHL,” Associate Coach Ulf Samuelsson said after Sunday’s practice.

Pittsburgh (5-2-2) next plays Tuesday at San Jose.

QUICK HIT

Jeff Quinney, the PGA player sponsored by the Coyotes, finished tied for 35th place at the Frys.com Open in Scottsdale. Quinney shot a 68 on Sunday on Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course. Cameron Beckman won the event on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff.
