Over 340,000 Hits On Web Site During Draft
The 2006 NHL Draft was held on Saturday, June 24, in Vancouver and was a huge success for the Phoenix Coyotes fans in the Valley and around the country.
To help Coyotes fans with all of the draft information on draft day, the Phoenix Coyotes created "Coyotes Draft Central" on their web site, www.phoenixcoyotes.com. It was a web page dedicated solely to covering the team's draft day activities.
Over 340,000 Coyotes fans visited the web site on Saturday as they got the latest information and viewed video from the club's front office personnel prior, during, and after the draft.
While the fans enjoyed the information provide to them on the web, over 200 fans enjoyed watching the draft coverage live on OLN at McDuffy's sports bar in Peoria. Fans were able to mingle with Coyotes players Derek Morris, Dennis Seidenberg and Josh Gratton. Also in attendance were FSN Arizona television color analyst Darren Pang and Phoenix Coyotes Radio Play-By-Play man Bob Heethuis.
The Coyotes selected eight talented young men in center Peter Mueller, defenseman Chris Summers, defenseman Jonas Ahnelov, goalie Brett Bennett, forward Martin Latal, defenseman Jordan Bendfeld, defenseman Chris Frank and forward Benn Ferriero.
Some of the Coyotes draft picks, along with 20 other Coyotes top prospects, will be in Phoenix for the rookie summer conditioning camp July 3-9 at Desert Schools Coyotes Center in Peoria.
