GLENDALE - NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch attended the Coyotes vs. Hurricanes game on Thursday night and exchanged garments with captain Shane Doan before the game began.
Busch, who is in Arizona to promote the upcoming NASCAR season, gave Doan a Joe Gibbs Racing team jacket. Doan gave Busch a Coyotes sweater with the No. 18 on it; Busch drives car No. 18. During the game, the Coyotes also presented the expecting father with an infant-sized sweater with No. 18 and "Busch" on the back.
"It was a blast," Busch said of the experience. "It’s my second NHL game and my first in Arizona. I really enjoyed my time - the fans were great and it was an amazing atmosphere, and it was really cool to meet some of the players and see them play."
Busch and other NASCAR drivers will compete in the CampingWorld.com 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on March 15.
In an intriguing twist of fate, Dave Moss of the Coyotes scored the team's only goal in a 2-1 shootout loss. Moss wears sweater No. 18 - and it was his first goal of the season.
