OTTAWA - Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris practiced with the team on Thursday, and Head Coach Wayne Gretzky said Morris would play Friday vs. the Senators despite a cut on his hand suffered early in Wednesday's game at Chicago.
"The ref stepped on my finger by accident and cut it pretty good," said Morris, who suffered the slice while wrestling with Chicago's Adam Burish on the ice after they'd swapped a few punches. Morris has not missed a game because of injury since the 2005-06 season.
Just to be safe, the Coyotes recalled defenseman Ryan Lannon from their top affiliate in San Antonio on an emeregncy basis on Thursday. Lannon, who has never played in an NHL game, was one of the final players cut from training camp.
