Lately, things have been very exciting. Last week our rookie camp took place. It was great to finally get back onto the ice in a game-like situation, and also to take part in intense, fast-paced practices.
Last Saturday was the first day of rookie camp and we did a couple of medical exams and then got onto the ice for some on-ice testing. Sunday and Monday were practice days where we had a couple of video sessions to learn our systems and work on them out on the ice, and then Tuesday was our first game against the Kings.
Tuesday night didn't turn out the way we wanted, as we ended up losing 2-1, but we thought it was a pretty good first game. It was fast paced, back and forth, and we knew we would get better for the following afternoon. On Wednesday, we played a lot better. We improved on many things from the night before like our power play (we had two power-play goals) and everyone played better defensively. Thursday was a nice day off for everyone to rest and recover for main camp starting on Friday.
When Friday morning came around it was exciting to have all the players at the rink. Everyone was doing more physical testing, and getting everything prepared for the following days of practices. It was a great atmosphere, and everyone was ready to get started.
