The past couple of weeks have been very exciting. Our team has been playing really well lately, starting with the game against Minnesota. We hadn't beaten them in a long time and we put together one of our best games of the year to get the win.
After that we played Detroit, and that was a really neat game. They are the defending Stanley Cup champions, and we knew it was going to be a battle. I thought it was the most exciting, fun, and entertaining game of the year so far. The whole game was back and forth, exchanging scoring chances. And it was my first time playing against Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. They are two of the best players in the game, and playing against them was pretty cool. The creativity on some of the moves they pull is amazing. I think that game gave our team a lot of confidence. Once again, we put together one of our best efforts of the year, and we were 20 seconds away from beating the Stanley Cup champs.
After we lost in overtime to Dallas a couple nights later, we came home to play Nashville on Thursday night. It was a huge game in terms of the standings within our conference. They were one point ahead of us in seventh place, and we were in ninth place. We put together a great game and I was lucky enough to finally score.
Over the past couple weeks I have been getting more and more confident. I feel much more relaxed on the ice, and I'm making plays that I wasn't making at the begining of the year. I'm playing my game now and I feel great. I'm still learning as much as I can, taking 50 or 60 face-offs every pre-game skate against Shane Doan
to try and get better in the face-off circle. And Viktor Tikhonov
and I work on our shots everyday after practice. All of us rookies are learning the ropes, and starting to get more comfortable.
Well guys, I hope you all have happy holidays and a happy new year. I am lucky enough to have my parents and dog down here from Vancouver to celebrate the holidays, and a couple of my good buddies from Wisconsin and my girlfriend are all coming down just after Christmas to hang out and relax. It's gonna be a really nice holiday, but a little bit different than normal not seeing any snow! Once again, I hope you all enjoy the holidays.
