Jovanovski Notches First NHL Hat Trick

GLENDALE, Arizona --- Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Ed Jovanovski scored his first career hat trick tonight in a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators at Arena.

The hat trick was Jovanovski's first in 979 career NHL games with Florida, Vancouver and Phoenix and the first by a defenseman in franchise history (Winnipeg Jets and Phoenix Coyotes) in 2,415 games.

"It was nice to contribute offensively and nice to get a win," Jovanovski said.

The 6-foot-3, 218 pound Jovanovski has recorded 131-345-476 in 979 career NHL games. Jovanovski was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the first round (first overall) in the 1994 Entry Draft.
