IIHF World Championship: Day 10 Recap

EDITOR'S NOTE: Five members of the Coyotes organization - Head Coach Dave Tippett (Canada), Mikkel Boedker (Denmark), Connor Murphy (USA), Andy Miele (USA) and Tobias Rieder (Germany) - are competing at the 2014 IIHF World Championship in Minsk, Belarus.

DAY TEN: May 18, 2014

• USA defeated Finland, 3-1, in a Group B game.

Coyotes defenseman Connor Murphy played a team-high 27 shifts (20:58).

"It was a huge win for us," Murphy said. "It was a tight and exciting game. Now we get to control our fate on where we are ranked going into the quarterfinals with our last round robin game against Germany on Tuesday."

Coyotes forward Andy Miele played 6:54 and took one shot on goal.

• Canada defeated Sweden, 3-2 in OT, in a Group A game.

Ryan Ellis scored the game-winning goal at 2:38 of overtime for Canada, which moved to 4-0-1-0-1 under Coyotes/Canada Head Coach Dave Tippett in this tournament.

• Russia defeated Germany 3-0 in a Group B game today.

Coyotes prospect Tobias Rieder played 14:41 and took two shots on goal.
