Hanzal Selected to Participate in 2016 World Cup in Toronto

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Arizona Coyotes center Martin Hanzal (Czech Republic) will represent his country at the 2016 World Cup in Toronto, Ontario.

Hanzal, 29, participated in the IIHF World Championship in 2008 and 2013 and at the IIHF World Junior Championship in 2006 and 2007. In 2005, Hanzal posted 4-3-7 and a plus-7 rating in seven games at the IIHF U-18 World Championship in the Czech Republic and was named to the tournament All-Star team.

The 6-foot-6, 226-pound centerman has recorded 10-22-32 and 56 PIM in 50 games this season. Now in his fifth season as an alternate captain, the Pisek, Czech Republic native has played in 543 career games, totaling 98-180-278 and 473 PIM. Hanzal was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (17th overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft.
