WAYNE GRETZKY AND MIKE COMRIE
RINGING PINK TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER
Qwest Sponsored Initiative benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
Phoenix Coyotes President and COO Douglas Moss and Qwest Arizona President Pat Quinn announced today that Head Coach Wayne Gretzky and center Mike Comrie will take part in "Ringing Pink To Fight Breast Cancer" during the month of October. The Coyotes will work alongside Qwest and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, to help in the fight against breast cancer.
As part of the October Coyotes Causes Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gretzky and Comrie will help engage men in the fight against breast cancer. Qwest is providing them with a new pink Katana phone which they will use to make calls to females who are important in their lives - their family, friends and professional contacts - making them aware of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
"I am thankful to be able to help in the fight against breast cancer in any way possible, and this initiative by Qwest is a great way to provide information about this devastating disease," said Wayne Gretzky, Head Coach and Managing Partner of the Phoenix Coyotes.
For each call they make, Qwest will contribute $100 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in their name. Qwest will also donate 10 percent of the sales of its three pink phones, including the Katana, to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, up to $150,000.
Coyotes center Mike Comrie, who lost his mother to breast cancer, is the Coyotes' spokesman for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
