GLENDALE – Backup goalie Thomas Greiss made his debut with the Coyotes on Tuesday night vs. the New York Islanders and stopped seven of eight shots he faced in relief of starter Mike Smith.
Greiss, who is from Fussen, Germany, signed with the Coyotes as a free agent over the summer after playing 44 games for the San Jose Sharks over four seasons.
His new teammates have welcomed Greiss into the mix. He’s a pretty quiet guy, they say, but his angry Yeti-themed goalie mask is anything but low key.
"I lost a little bit of sleep over it," defenseman Keith Yandle joked, (we think).
