Grabner Sidelined Indefinitely Because of Eye Injury

by Dave Vest @davest4yotes / Coyotes Sr. Director of News Content

GLENDALE -- Coyotes forward Michael Grabner will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering an eye injury in Saturday's game vs. St. Louis at Gila River Arena.

Grabner left the game and did not return after Blues forward Sammy Blais accidentally hit him in the right eye with his stick at 14:24 of the first period.

Grabner has notched six goals in his first season with the Coyotes, and is leading the team and the NHL with four short-handed goals. He's also a key penalty killer for Arizona, which leads the League with an 89.7 percent success rate against opponents' power plays.

The Coyotes are expected to recall a forward from the American Hockey League, presumably Conor Garland, on Monday to replace Grabner on the roster.
