Glendale to Vote on Interim Deal with NHL Tonight

by Staff Writer / Arizona Coyotes
GLENDALE -- The Glendale City Council tonight will consider for approval authorization to extend the current National Hockey League and Arena Management Agreement for another year. The agreement allows for the team to remain in place for the NHL 2011-12 season; allowing the NHL and staff additional time to complete the required agreement with an ownership group that will be committed to retaining the team in Glendale.

Coyotes fans are encouraged to attend the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Glendale Council Chambers. The address is 5850 W. Glendale Ave.

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly is expected to attend the council meeting.

"As we have for the past two-plus years, we have been working very closely with the City of Glendale to do everything possible to ensure the Coyotes' future in Glendale," Daly recently told NHL.com. "At the City's request, we have agreed to pursue another one-year interim arrangement while we jointly pursue a long-term ownership solution. We remain confident that one exists, and we intend to continue to pursue it."
