The Phoenix Coyotes returned to the ice Friday needing to regroup after a disappointing 6-5 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday Night. After three straight losses, the Coyotes desperately needed two points and it looked like they might have that opportunity when Keith Ballard came to the rescue with a game tying goal in the final minute of regulation. Unfortunately, they could not solve goalie Erik Ersberg in the shootout as he denied Ballard, Mueller, Vrbata, and finally ended it with a save on Shane Doan.

Today, the mood in the Coyotes dressing room was very positive as the guys look to turn the page and continue their surprising success against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night.

March Madness had the players eyes glued to the TV in the locker room as Western Kentucky and Drake went to overtime. When Ty Harris buried a desperation 26 foot three pointer at the buzzer to give Western Kentucky the upset victory, the roar in the room was deafening! The players had just witnessed the first buzzer beater of the NCAA Tournament as a group.

Maybe watching a team like Western Kentucky defy the odds will ignite a belief for the Coyotes that anything is possible. Can they rattle off seven wins in a row and make the playoffs, or maybe go six and one? March is the month that provides an underdog story every year on the court. This year, the Phoenix Coyotes hope they can provide a little magic on the ice.
