GLENDALE, Ariz. --- Eight youth hockey players from across the Valley will represent the Phoenix Coyotes June 27-29 at the fourth annual “Ace’s Got Skills” National Championships in Boston.
Competing in the Squirts division are forward Noah Robinson, 9, forward Chase Sutton, 10, and goalie Tristan Vanderbur, 10, of Phoenix; goalie Jacob Hotz, 9, of Scottsdale; and forward Therese Hanna, 11, of Chandler. In the Pee Wee division are goalie Scotty Bowen, 12, of Phoenix, goalie Aaron Coloma, 12, of Anthem and defenseman Eric Rogers, 13, of Gilbert.
Modeled after the NHL’s popular All-Star SuperSkills Competition, the “Ace’s Got Skills” program gives players ages 9-12 the opportunity to test their skills in skating, puck handling, shooting and goaltending categories.
The eight Phoenix youth each qualified and were selected for the National Championships out of over 200 other Valley kids and are among 130 boys and girls from across the country competing at the event.
