The 'Dual in the Desert' will feature the Peoria Jr. B Coyotes versus the Phoenix Polar Bears
GLENDALE, AZ --- While the NHL may be shutting down for the Olympic Games in Italy, hockey fans in Glendale will have the opportunity to see some top-rate ice hockey at Glendale Arena this Wednesday, February 15, as the Coyotes' Junior affiliate takes to the ice against the Phoenix Polar Bears at 7:00PM.
The Peoria Coyotes are currently ranked sixth in the West Division of the Western States Hockey League (WSHL). The Polar Bears lead the league with a record of 31-3-1. Kyle Bailey currently leads the Coyotes in points, having amassed 32 (15 goals and 17 assists) in 30 games. The Polar Bears are led by forward Ryan Evanson, who is ranked fourth in league scoring with 97 points (52G-44A) in 35 games.
Established in 1994, the WSHL is comprised of 12 teams competing in Arizona, California, Idaho, Texas, and Louisiana. Teams take part in a 41-game schedule prior to entering the playoffs, from which the league champion moves on to the U.S.A. Hockey Jr. B National Championships.
