"I like the way he played. He was a big player, like me, and he liked to take the puck and do nice goals." -- Anton Karlsson, on Mats Sundin, his idol

"We thought Anton was going to be a lot higher pick than he was, and when we saw he was still available it was an easy decision for us.” – Coyotes Director of Amateur Scouting Tim Bernhardt

"He likes to play physical and he gives it everything he has on every shift. He was one of the few 17-year-old players to make the World Junior team and was pretty good, he worked hard every shift.” -- Goran Stubb, NHL Director of European Scouting

The Fun Facts:

• Anton's older brother, Erik, was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. The two have played together at many levels, most recently with Frolunda’s junior team in 2013-14. Their father, Martin, has been an assistant coach with Frolunda’s under-16 club since 2011-12.

• Frolunda has produced at least one NHL Draft pick in each of the past 16 years - 48 players in total - almost twice the amount of any other Swedish club. Daniel Alfredsson, Henrik Lundqvist, Erik Karlsson and Alexander Steen are among the players currently skating in the NHL who have come from the program.
