On Sunday, Team Canada defeated Finland 4-2 to capture their 24th Gold Medal at the World Championships.
Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan
recorded one assist and was a plus +1 in Sunday’s win, giving him a tournament total of 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) and a plus +7 in nine games.
Canada opened the scoring in the first period with goals from Rick Nash (Columbus) and Eric Staal (Carolina) before Colby Armstrong (Pittsburgh) added a third goal in the second period.
Team Finald would answer in the third with goals by Petri Kontiola and Antti Miettinen (Dallas), but Canada would put the game out of reach with 1:06 left in regulation as Doan helped set up Nash for his second tally of the game.
RUSSIA TAKES BRONZE
In the Bronze Medal game, Team Russia topped Sweden by the final score of 3-1.
